...I'm no-nonsense.
I believe that our kids should be healthy, our seniors should be able to age with dignity, and nobody in our nation should have to skip a meal to pay a doctor. Universal healthcare is a human right that our government must protect. We already have the money to do it, and the system would domino into so many other great things for America.
Imagine waking up without feeling desperation - knowing that medical bills won't ruin your life. Here in Illinois, that's over $5 billion worth of relief for people just like you and me. I don't think it's naive to say that everyone deserves that.
Healthcare relief keeps people from falling into homelessness and out of jail. It keeps us from wasting tax dollars trying to bandage our deep-seeded issues. Rich folks don't need anymore tax breaks, they've already made $2 trillion since COVID. My belt is as tight as it can get.
The Affordable Care Act provided stable healthcare access to millions of Americans. By expanding that coverage and closing financial loopholes for billionaires, we could do exponentially more. I plan to push for changes that drive America forward, without leaving anyone behind.
